Use your Alexa device as a Bluetooth speaker
It is possible to stream the audio of other Bluetooth compatible devices, like your phone, to your Alexa smart speaker.
Connect your phone to your Echo device for the first time
Before streaming audio from your phone to your Echo speaker, you must first pair them together. After that, the connection will be trusted and your Echo device will accept audio from your phone.
Get in range with your Echo.
If you have an Android phone
- Go to Settings
- Turn on Bluetooth
- In the Bluetooth options, under Available devices, find and select your Echo device
- Tap Pair

If you have an iPhone
- Open the Settings app
- Tap Bluetooth
- In Other Devices, find and select your Echo device
- Pair
Now connected to [phone name]

Ask Alexa to pair with your phone
You must now ask Alexa to connect with your phone.
Note that Alexa will only connect to your phone if it was previously paired using the Alexa app/phone setting. If you have several Bluetooth enabled devices, Alexa will try to pair with the last known device it’s connected to.

Play Alexa on a Bluetooth speaker
Sometimes the speaker embedded into your Echo device might not be powerful or good enough to play your music nice and loud. All Echo devices let you connect and send their audio to a Bluetooth speaker or a better stereo sound system.
